Learning about Diez y Seis & the Sense of Hearing

Today we were very fortunate to have Jenny, Lucia's Mom, come in and share information on Diez y Seis. She read a wonderful story, taught us some words in Spanish, and then the children each made their own Mexican flag. Thank you so much for sharing with us! We look forward to the celebration tomorrow evening at school. Remember, 1st graders have been asked to bring enchiladas.

In science, today we focused on the sense of hearing. First we past a few containers around. Using only our sense of hearing, we predicted what was inside. Some cans were harder than others! Then, we played Animal Sounds Bingo. It was fun listening to all of the different sounds the animals made.

We also learned the Purple song. It goes like this:
P-U-R-P-L-E, purple, purple.
P-U-R-P-L-E, purple's what that spells.
Purple grapes on the vine.
Purple koolaid's fine.
P-U-R-P-L-E, purple's what that spells.
