Cracking Open Geodes
Today during science, we cracked open our own geodes. At each table, equiped with safety goggles, the children took turns trying to break open these small rough looking rocks. Some were VERY hard to crack open. We learned to be very careful with the hammers. Once open, we found beautiful quartz deposits inside. Then, we showed our big buddies and each child got to take a piece of it home.
