Gingerbread House Building

On our last day before Winter Break, each child created their own "gingerbread" house. We all had a lot of fun! Here are some of the finished products!

Zilker Holiday Sing-a-Long

On Thursday, the entire school met in the cafeteria for a Holiday Sing-a-Long. Each grade level led several songs that they practiced with Ms. Price in music class. We had so much fun! Here are a few short clips of the children singing "Silent Night" and "Must Be Santa."

Holiday Reindeer

We transformed into reindeer to celebrate the holidays! We even made name necklaces with Christmas lights to practice starting with a capital letter and writing the lowercase letters the correct direction. The children were very festive and looked so cute!

You've Got Mail!

Earlier in December we wrote letters to Santa's reindeer. Each child decided whom they would like to write to and then each thought of questions to ask and facts to tell that reindeer. We were pleasantly surprised when we received a large green envelope postmarked from the North Pole! Each child received a response!

1st Grade Holiday Rotation

The first grade classes learned about many winter holidays during our Holiday Rotation. Each day the children spent 45 minutes with one teacher. We read stories, played games, and did art activities. We learned about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, La Posada, and Christmas. We discussed the similarities and differences among the holidays. We embraced how people celebrate different holidays. Happy Holidays!

Playing Dreidle

With our Buddies today we played the dreidle game. We learned what each symbol meant and what to do when we landed on them. Then we took turns spinning and following directions. Some students were luckier than others!

Thanksgiving Dinner Lunch

To celebrate Thanksgiving, we invited our families to join us while we told the story of Thanksgiving in an ABC story. We also enjoyed eating lunch with our family members, too!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for all of my wonderful students and their families!
