Wood Hunt

During Science, today we went on a Wood Hunt. First, each student received one piece of wood that they explored yesterday. They had either redwood, basswood, pine, plywood, or particleboard. Then, they searched around the room for a matching piece. Then, we discussed what we noticed about the wood and brainstormed words to describe each type. After, the scientists (aka students) went back to their spots, drew pictures of the pieces of wood and wrote down at least two words to describe each piece.

Later in the day, we went on another Wood Hunt and we searching in the classroom for items made of wood of items that are not made of wood. We recorded our observations and added both recording sheets to our science notebooks.
