When we returned in January, we began our math unit on fractions. We learned that the bottom number of a fraction tells how many pieces there are and the top number tells how many pieces are used or shaded. We practiced all different ways to understand fractions. We made pizzas, divided them us, and wrote down what fraction of the pizza we would eat and what fraction we would share or save. We used dry erase boards to demonstrate our knowledge, too. When our buddies came to visit, we played all sorts of fraction games and listened to them read a book about fractions to us, too.
