2-D and 3-D Shapes
In math, we spent some time reviewing 2-D shapes: square, hexagon, trapezoid, rhombus, oval, circle, triangle, and rectangle. We used pattern blocks to see how many shapes we could use to cover a picture and then how few we could use to cover the same picture. We used cards and sorted the shapes into different groups.
Then, we introduced 3-D shapes: cube, sphere, cone, pyramid, rectangular prism, and triangular prism. We went on a shape hunt in the classroom. Then, working with a partner we described each shape and shared the facts we noticed with the class.
