Symmetrical Kwanzaa Necklaces

To wrap up our unit on symmetry, today we did a bunch of symmetrical designs. First, the students created symmetrical gingerbread kids to finish off our door decorations. Then, we used tissue paper to create symmetrical butterflies. Finally, we reviewed what the children learned in Mrs. McLendon's class about Kwanzaa and then we made symmetrical necklaces using fruit foam pieces and beads with colors that reminded us of Kwanzaa. Not only were the necklaces symmetrical, many students also made patterns!
