Particleboard

After a day off from school yesterday, we jumped right back into the swing of things learning about Christopher Columbus. We learned that in 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Ms. Pundt, our school counselor came to visit us, too. She'll visit our class every three weeks. Today we talked about making good choices, using our words and saying them firmly if someone is bothering you.

In Math, we are working on 2-D shapes this week. Students created pattern block pictures with squares, rhombuses, hexagons, triangles, and trapezoids.

Then, in science, the students made their own particleboard. We mixed a matrix of water and cornstarch with sawdust and wood shavings. Then, the students shaped their wood into any desired shape. We had a few creative pieces.

Today we also did yoga with Ms. Tiffany. The students did such a great job remembering everything they learned with Liz. If your child hasn't brought a towel (or if you have an extra at home), please send one for next week. We are just a few short. Thanks so much for your support!
