The Letters in Our Names

This week we are focusing on our names. We read the book "Chrysanthemum." Did you know Chrysanthemum has 13 letters in it? That's half the amount of the alphabet! First we talked about vowels and then we identified the vowels in our names. We graphed our names based on how many vowels we have. Later we wrote our names and then graphed what letters we had in our names. Can you guess what letter we had the most of? You'll have to stop by and check outside our door!

In math today, we played Compare. The directions for playing are in your child's homework packet. If you don't have a deck of cards at home, I've also attached some paper ones. We focused on saying ___ is greater than ___. (8 is greater than 3.) The children loved playing!

Today we learned the Green song! It goes to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat."

G-R-E-E-N, G-R-E-E-N.
I know how to spell green,
G-R-E-E-N.
Caterpillars are green
And grasshoppers, too.
I know how to spell green,
G-R-E-E-N.

Today Ms. Darling began her internship. She will be spending every Tuesday and Wednesday with us throughout November. We are very lucky to have her in our class. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night for Curriculum Night!
