To help us learn the parts of the plant, we used a large blow up plant. Each part attached together using velcro. It was a lot of fun learning the parts of a plant.

Mark your calendars...
Welcome to First Grade at Zilker Elementary! I am so excited to be your child's teacher! Please plan on visiting our blog to see what's happening in our class. I'll also post reminders here under "News from Ms. Shapiro." As soon as I receive the permission forms to post your child's picture, I will be able to start uploading our photos.
Every day your child will bring home their B.E.A.R. book (Bring Everything Always Ready). Please check it every day (especially on Thursdays when send home school-wide information). There is a section for "Important Papers to Keep at Home" and one for items that need to be "Signed and Returned."
Homework packets began this week. They are filled with fun optional assignments as well as one assignment that will be due on Friday. See the front cover for more information!
