Scientist of the Week-Electromagnet
This week's scientist used a large iron nail, 3 feet of coated copper wire, a D size battery, some paper clips, and tape to create a magnet. First he wrapped the wire around the nail. Then he attached the wire to each side of the battery with tape. Next he pointed the tip of the nail at the paper clip. Finally, he was able to pick up a paper clip with the magnetized nail. Wow!
