Valentine's Day

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day! Each child brought a box that they decorated at home to house their valentines. The children went into the hall and delivered their valentines by putting them in the correct boxes. Later in the day, the children opened up their cards and goodies. It was such a pleasure listening to the children read each card and then thank their friend who wrote it. Today we reviewed vowels. The children graphed the vowels on candy hearts and recorded which vowel that they had the most and least. Then, each child received a small container of red-hots. They counted their candies by 1's, 2's, 5's, & 10's. They put the candies in 2 equal piles, then 4 equal piles. Finally they counted how many hearts it took to outline a heart and then to fill the heart. After P.E., the children made Love Bug bookmarks, Valentine Bug Cookies, and they created sentences using conversation heart candies. We had a fun day!
