We returned this week to start a new unit in Social Studies on Maps and a new unit in Math on Fractions. First we read "Me on the Map" by Joan Sweeney. We discussed where we live--our streets, city, state, and country. Then, we began to create our own books. We are working on them one page at time. We should finish them in the next week or two. We also learned about directions-North, South, East, and West. We are learning all about fractions, too- halves, fourths, and thirds, numerators & denominators, and being able to tell and show how many parts of something is shaded.
